I Am Speechless

I am speechless because this is just — okay

This is allowed

They are allowed to invade

They are allowed to indiscriminately bomb people

They are allowed to deprive them of resources

As long as they’re Black or Brown

And not White

I am speechless because they have suffered in silence

For years

Even though Western media will have you believe it started on October 7th

And that’s just okay

It’s okay to spread lies like this

To protect the people worth protecting

And them only

And it’s just okay

I’m speechless because the spotlight is on these trivial events

Of celebrities playing dress up with $75,000

While children are starving and being bombed

The spotlight is on false portrayals of the protestors

And fictional stories about anti-semitism done by said protestors

The spotlight is on transgender people

And the made-up danger they are to society and the world as a whole

Rather than the real danger to the world

I am speechless because I could not fathom the experience

The experience of hearing bombs throughout the night

The experience of being bombed when you try to go for resources

The experience of being raped with your husband forced to watch

The experience of being safe, but knowing your family is not

And that you could get news of one of them dying

At any moment

I am speechless

So speechless that I’m only just writing this

Because for months, I couldn't put this absolute horror into words

Knowing that I look like I don’t care

Writing about everything else

That I could fathom

I’m speechless

Because they have nowhere to go

And the world is hardly batting an eye.
